How to play

Choose setup and side

Pick Horse–Elephant formations and the side you play.

Follow each piece move

Move rooks, cannons, horses, elephants, guards, kings, and soldiers legally.

Capture the opposing king

Control the palace until the king cannot escape.

Rules

Sides alternate moves with Janggi piece rules. Capture the opposing king to win. Unlike Shogi, captured pieces are not dropped back onto the board.

장기, 한반도의 궁(宮)과 장(將)

장기는 한국에서 독자적으로 발전한 9×10 보드 전략게임으로, 차·마·상·사·장·포·병(졸)이 각각 다른 이동 규칙을 가집니다. 중국 장기(象棋)와 기물 이름·보드 크기·포(包)의 존재 등에서 친연성을 보이지만, 궁(宮) 안 대각선·한(漢)과 초(楚)의 색 구분·외통수 개념 등 한국만의 규칙이 정착했습니다.

조선·일제·현대를 거치며 서민·군인·노인 정원·온라인 대국까지 장기는 ‘한국인의 바둑보 위 대화’로 남아 있습니다. KOISCORE 장기는 Fairy-Stockfish 계열 엔진과 연동 가능한 웹 장기로, 긴 tradition을 설치 없이 이어 갈 수 있게 합니다.
